Hello, I am new to this site. My sweet Aslan, (11 y/o) was recently diagnosed with Stage 2-3 kidney disease. His BUN is 50, Creatinine is 2.6, SDMA is 13 and his Hgb is 9.6. I have him on a kidney diet and he HATES the Hills brand of canned cat food. I have been feeding him senior Fancy Feast until I can find a canned replacement he will eat. Has anyone had any experience/preference with Daves or Weruva ? Thank you for your support. May

What country are you in? There are a lot of options in the food charts here. Look for something low in phosphorus.
No experience with Daves but I feed my Stage 2 guy Weruva. The two he likes right now are the BFF Play Pate, Chicken Cherish and Chicken & Turkey Tiptoe.

THANK YOU Tim & Pookey !!! We live in the United States, the list is incredible and gives Aslan alot of healthy/tasty choices . Someone went through quite a bit of research, work and love to create that spreadsheet. Thank you for sharing . I am looking into the Phos-Bind powder too, but am not comfortable with some of the side effects. Our Pet Smart carries Weruva, will bring this spreadsheet/list and Pookey's list with me. MANY thanks !

Is his phosphorus high? Depending on how his numbers are trending maybe you can get away with just the diet change for now.
Goodmorning Tim & Pookie, Aslan's Phosphorus is 5.5, the high side of normal but still within normal range. I will keep to the diet change and daily Reiki. He gets bloodwork done every 4 months because he has to be sedated. A vet visit is not high on his favorite things to do. Thank You !!!
