Guess who now has worsening kidney values? :facepalm::facepalm::blackeye: Emma had her annual check up recently. She lost 2 lbs since the last visit. The vet thought GI issue. I said kidney issues because Leroy :blackeye: B12 levels are normal. BUN and creatinine are slightly elevated. Phosphorus is still within normal range. The vet says to keep giving the Porus One supplement and will recheck blood work in a month. Fluids could be helpful and I still have Leroy's stuff but there's no way Emma would hold still for that.

I read somewhere that rabbit is hard on the kidneys. Emma has food sensitivities and a picky palate. Rabbit is the only protein she will eat. Is there a kidney friendly canned rabbit food? She's eating freeze dried raw right now which is what Leroy was eating before I switched him to a frozen raw when his kidneys started failing.
 
Ahh! I’m sorry to hear about Emma’s numbers, Squeem. You know as well as I do they can live a long time in the early stages, and it seems like Emma is pretty early on so that’s good. How old is she? I’ll research the rabbit thing tomorrow and see what I can find.
 
I see people online talking about rabbit and the other lean proteins naturally being higher in phosphorus.

There is one rabbit food in the secondary moderate-phos list from Andrew Hall, it's the Tiki Cat After Dark Soft Pate Rabbit & Chicken Liver Recipe. He says the phosphorus is 242 mg/100kcal, and actually low carb too. Compared to some of the other foods in the main list, those are like 130-180 mg/100kcal. So that Tiki Cat is only a little higher. There's also a Royal Canin Selected Protein PR Loaf in Sauce (Rabbit) that is 202 mg/100kcal phosphorus.

Not sure if either of these are better than her current diet though. Do you know what the phos is in her freeze dried raw? I wonder if you could call KOHA and see what their LID rabbit is.
